Are my disability benefits income?

There are two primary sources of disability income:

- Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is not reported as income on a tax return.

- Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) is reported on form SSA-1099. The income may be partially taxable. Generally, if SSDI is your only source of income, it is not taxable.
